Do you know how much an employee really costs your company? Financial Planning & Analysis combines all known workforce-related costs in Factorial — contract conditions, real payroll data, employee expenses and future hiring plans — giving you a single place to plan, analyze and manage them.
This article explains what each tab covers and where to find it. Each tab has its own detailed guide, linked below.
Who is it for
Financial Planning & Analysis is built around three jobs to be done:
- Finance teams – to support budgeting, cost allocation and reporting.
- HR admins – to track payroll and workforce structure.
- Both of them – to support headcount planning and budgeting.
Where to find Financial Planning & Analysis
To access it:
- In your sidebar, go to the Finance section.
- Open Financial planning.
- Select the tab you need: Employee Costs, Compensation Data or Headcount Planning.
Employee Costs is selected by default.

What you'll find in each tab
Employee Costs — for Finance teams
A full summary of employee-related costs, bringing together three data sources so you can compare what you planned to pay against what you actually paid:
- Agreement cost — gross salary and additional compensation taken directly from each employee's contract.
- Employee expenses — all employee-related expenses coming from the Spending product.
- Labor Cost — the main KPI: your company's total cost per employee, taken from the "Company Cost" concept in your payroll summaries.
You can filter by data source, cost centre, legal entity, people and workplace, regroup the table for reporting, and export the result to Excel.
Compensation Data — designed for HR admins
Analysis of your actual payroll data, based on the payroll summary you upload. Your payroll concepts are automatically categorized and summed under categories such as Earnings, Deductions, Company contribution and Summarized values, so you can see exactly where your compensation spend goes.
This tab is also where you upload the official payroll summary that populates the dashboard with real, detailed salary data. It has its own filters — including a Payroll line filter — plus grouping and Excel export.
Headcount Planning — for HR, Finance and managers
Plan your future workforce and its cost, then turn approved roles into hires. Instead of managing hiring plans across spreadsheets, you create a planning period, collect headcount requests from department leads, review and approve them, and end up with a single approved hiring plan — with live cost forecasts and a direct link into Recruitment. An Org chart view shows planned positions alongside current employees within their future reporting lines.
Headcount Planning is currently web only.
