Overview
Two things worth knowing before you start:
- The platform is what your company uses to track, manage and secure its devices.
- FleetDM is the agent that actually gets installed on your device. You will see that name during installation — it is expected.
How to use
Reach the enrolment page
Two ways in:
- From the invitation email. Open the email titled "Invite to join \" and click Enrol my computer.
- From a direct link. Open the link your IT team shared. It takes you straight there.

- Enter your work email address. If you are new and do not have one yet, use your personal address — it makes no difference to the enrolment.
- Enter the 6-digit code sent to that address. Codes expire after 10 minutes.
Install

If a device is already assigned to you, select it and click Enrol. If not, click Deploy MDM on another device and pick your operating system.
macOS
- Find the downloaded .mobileconfig file and double-click it. A system message confirms the profile downloaded and now needs installing.

- Open System Settings > General > Device Management. (Searching for "Device Management" in System Settings gets you there too.)
- Select \ Enrolment in the list and double-click it.

- Click Enrol, bottom left.

- Enter your administrator password to confirm
If you see a message saying the installer is blocked:

Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.

Windows
- Double-click the downloaded .msi file.
- Click Yes in the Windows security prompt.

Linux
- Download the package for your distribution.
- Run it with your package manager or the supplied shell script.
iOS and iPadOS
- Open the enrolment link on the device.
- Go to Settings > General > Device Management.
- Select and install the MDM profile, entering your passcode if asked.
Android
Two modes — use the one your IT team told you to:
- Personal (work profile), for a device you own. Company apps and data stay in a separate work profile and your personal data stays private.
- Open the Personal (work profile) link on the device, or scan the QR code next to it
- Tap Enrol and follow the steps to create the work profile.
- Company-owned (fully managed), for a new or factory-reset company device.
- Open the Company-owned link on a computer or tablet. A QR code appears — leave the page open.
- Factory-reset the Android device, power it on, and stop at the welcome screen.
- Tap the welcome screen six times to open the QR scanner, then scan the code.
Once the agent is installed you get a confirmation email and the device appears in the dashboard.
Tips and Best Practices
- Check you have administrator rights before you start. It is the only step you cannot complete on your own, and finding out halfway through wastes the two minutes.
- Use the code straight away. It expires after 10 minutes, and requesting a new one is quicker than guessing whether the old one still works.
- On macOS, expect the "blocked" message. It is normal, not a failure — the fix is two clicks in Privacy & Security.
- On Android, open the QR link immediately before scanning it. Those codes expire in about an hour.
Troubleshooting and FAQ
Troubleshooting
- Your device asks you to change your password but will not let you. A known macOS issue after installing MDM on a device with a password policy. Restart the computer and the password change works.
- Your Mac says it is already managed by an MDM. Check the profile name. If it is your company's enrolment profile, the device may already be enrolled — confirm with IT. If it is a different profile, ask IT for the procedure to remove the old MDM first.
- The download is blocked by your browser. Allow it in your browser's security settings, or ask IT for another way to get the installer.
- The enrolment page shows an error. Check you used the right email address and that your code has not expired. Request a new one.
- The device does not appear after installation. Enrolment can take up to 5 minutes. If it still does not appear, contact IT.
FAQ
-
How long does it take?
Under two minutes from start to finish.

Will it slow my device down?

-

No. It has no effect on enrolment or on how the device is managed.
-
Who do I contact if something goes wrong?
Your own IT team.
