Monitor compliance alerts

Discover effective strategies to monitor compliance alerts and enhance regulatory adherence within your organization.

The Compliance Alerts page lists every device currently reporting a status you have flagged as non-compliant. It is a live triage queue: alerts appear when a device drifts and disappear when it recovers, with nothing to acknowledge.

Overview

Go to MDM > Compliance Alerts.

The list refreshes each time a device syncs. There is no scan to launch and no acknowledge action — this is a view of what is wrong right now, not a ticket queue.

What the columns show

Column What it shows
Status The non-compliant status reported by the device, for example NOTENCRYPTED or OFFLINE7_DAYS
Control name The MDM control or compliance rule that raised the alert
Type The rule category — encryption, OS update, antivirus, and so on
Device name The affected device
Date When the alert was last evaluated. The list is sorted most recent first

How to use

  1. Open MDM > Compliance Alerts
  2. Narrow the list. Filter by Device or Type, and hide the columns you do not need. Save the view if you will reuse it. The default view is All compliance alerts.
  3. Click a row to open the device drawer.
  4. Act from the drawer. You can review the device's status across every rule, jump to the related MDM control to check its configuration, or run a remediation action such as pushing a profile, locking or wiping.

Sorting and grouping are not available on this table.

A needs attention indicator also appears wherever a device is shown elsewhere in the dashboard, so problems surface without opening this page.

How alerts resolve

Alerts clear by themselves. There is no acknowledge, snooze or close. An alert disappears when:

  • The device's status changes — encryption completes, the operating system updates, the device comes back online, the missing profile lands.
  • You remove that status from the rule in Manage rules.

Re-evaluation runs on every device sync.

Viewing alerts requires MDM_READ.

Tips and best practices

  • Triage by Type, not by device. Ten devices failing the same rule is usually one configuration problem, not ten problems.
  • Save a filtered view per rule type you own. Opening a saved view beats re-filtering the full list every morning.
  • Use the device drawer rather than jumping between pages. It carries the device's full status and the remediation actions in one place.
  • If the same alert keeps returning, fix the rule, not the device. A status that recurs across the fleet is usually one that should not be flagged at all.

Troubleshooting and FAQ

Troubleshooting

  • An alert is still listed after the device was fixed. Alerts recompute on device sync, not on demand. Wait for the next check-in.
  • I cannot sort or group the table. Neither is available here. Filter and save a view instead.
  • The list is overwhelming. Too many statuses are flagged. Go to Manage rules and turn off the transient ones — see Configure compliance alert rules.
  • I cannot see the page. Viewing requires the MDM_READ permission.

FAQ

  1. Can I acknowledge or snooze an alert?
No. Alerts clear automatically when the device recovers or when you change the rule.

  2. How current is the list?
It reflects the last sync of each device.

  3. Can I fix a device from this page?
Yes. Open the device drawer and use the remediation actions there.
