Short answers to the most common questions about performance reviews in Factorial. Each answer links to the full article.

Do it with One: "How did our latest performance review go?"

Setting up

  1. How do I set up a review?
Go to Performance > Reviews > New review, choose From scratch or Use a template, complete the wizard, add questions in the Questionnaire, and click Launch review. See Create a performance review: templates, questionnaire and target group.

  2. We've never run a review. Where do we start?
Use a predefined template: Performance Review - 180º (self and manager), Performance Review - 360º (self, manager, peers, direct reports) or Probation period. See Create a performance review: templates, questionnaire and target group.

  3. Can we use our own questions?
Yes. Build them in the questionnaire, with a separate set per review type, and save the review as a template to reuse it. See Create a performance review: templates, questionnaire and target group.

  4. Can a review repeat every year automatically?
No. Duplicate the review or create it from a template each time.

  5. Can I change the rating scale to 1–10?
Yes, in Settings > People > Reviews > Scoring, for new reviews. See Scores, score scales and potential.

Participants and reviewers

  1. Can I add people after launching?
Yes, while the review is Active: Edit > Targets > Add targets. See Create a performance review: templates, questionnaire and target group.

  2. Can I remove someone after launching?
Yes, while the review is Active: Edit > Targets > Delete target. All their data in the review is deleted.

  3. Can I replace a manager in an active review?
Yes. Admins and owners can Replace reviewer on an unsubmitted manager review, and then Update the direct report review so the employee reviews the new manager. See Manage an active review: participation, peers, reviewers and status.

  4. Can more than one manager review the same employee?
Yes. Admins and owners can add additional reviewers (co-reviewers) to the employee's Manager review, for example a project or functional manager. They share the same evaluation. See Manage an active review: participation, peers, reviewers and status.

  5. Who chooses peers?
Admins, owners and each person's direct manager, after launch. See Manage an active review: participation, peers, reviewers and status.

  6. Someone left the company and their reviews are pending. What do I do?
Use Delete review on their evaluations so they don't block participation or scores.
