Overview
In Factorial, employees can request different types of absences, not only holidays or sick leave. These include situations such as medical appointments, working from home, or business trips.
Custom absence types allow companies to adapt Factorial to their day-to-day reality by creating absence types beyond standard holidays or sick leave.
Absence types that may cause confusion
Below are some common examples of absences that often generate questions:
-
Medical appointment
This absence should be used when an employee needs to be away for a few hours or a full day to attend a medical appointment, but is not on sick leave.
This should not be confused with sick leave, which usually implies temporary incapacity and is managed differently.
-
Working from home
This absence is used when an employee works remotely from home for one or more days.
Even though the employee is working, registering this type of absence helps the company understand where the team is working from.
-
Business trip
This absence is intended for work-related travel, such as client visits, events, or training sessions.
It can be requested as a full day or partial day, depending on how it is configured.
Other possible absence types
Depending on the company, there may also be absence types such as:
- External training
- Personal leave
- Special permits
- Parental leave
If you don’t see the absence type you need, contact your account administrator.
The absence types available to employees depend on how the account is set up. Only absence types that have been created by account administrators and assigned to the employee’s absence policy will be visible when requesting an absence.
