Task-level time tracking allows you to record time against individual tasks within a project. This gives you a more detailed view of where time is spent, making it easier to monitor progress, understand workloads, and report on project effort.
Overview
Projects support three levels of time tracking:
- Project
- Phase
- Task
When tracking time, you can select a specific task to associate with your time entry. Tracked time is then visible directly within the task, including in the Kanban view.
Task-level time tracking is available across multiple areas of Factorial, including the Clock-in widget, Time Tracking, My Projects, and the mobile app.
When and why it should be used
Use task-level time tracking when you want to record the exact work completed within a project instead of tracking time only at the project or phase level. This feature is especially useful for:
- Monitoring effort on individual tasks
- Improving project reporting and resource planning
- Understanding how time is distributed across a project's workload
- Increasing visibility into project progress
How to use
Track time from the Clock-in widget
- Open the Clock-in widget
- Select the project
- Select the corresponding phase, if applicable
- Choose the task you are working on
- Start tracking your time

Track time from Time Tracking
- Go to My time Tracking
- Create or edit a time entry
- Select the project
- Select the phase, if required
- Choose the relevant task
- Save the time entry

Track time from My Projects
- Go to My Projects
- Open the project you're working on
- Select the task
- Start or log your time

If you cannot find my project, check that you have been assigned to the project and that it is active.
If you do not see tracked time on the task, refresh the page and confirm that your time entry was saved successfully. If the issue persists, verify that the time was logged against the correct task.
