Setting Up and Managing Forfait Jours Contracts

This article explains how to configure and manage "forfait jours" contracts in Factorial, a specific type of working time arrangement in France. You'll learn how to enable this option in a contract and how Factorial helps track the workload effectively.

Forfait Jours Functionality

Forfait jours is a type of employment contract used in France, mostly for managers or employees with a high degree of autonomy. Unlike traditional contracts based on weekly working hours, forfait jours contracts define working time in days worked per year, typically 218 days.

It is ideal for roles where autonomy and responsibility outweigh the need for fixed daily schedules. Factorial provides features to configure and monitor this contract type while aiming to support legal compliance.

Key Elements:

  • Applicable to autonomous employees (mainly managers) under a collective agreement.
  • Typically involves 218 working days per year after deducting leave and public holidays.
  • No hourly tracking; only days worked are declared.
  • RTT (Reduction of Working Time) may be included based on company policy.
  • Must be included in the employment contract or addendum.
  • Employers must monitor workload, rest, and work-life balance.

How to use

  1. In your sidebar, go to Organisation
  2. Select the profile of the employee concerned
  3. Open the Contract tab
  4. At the right top, click on the three dots and Fix the current contract
  5. In Section 4, Legal mentions and supplements, find the option Forfait jours and select Yes
  6. Enter the number of working days per year, as specified in the employee's contract

Once enabled, the system adjusts the time tracking method accordingly:

  1. Daily tracking: Time is recorded per full or half day worked, not by the hour.
  2. Employee declaration: The employee will mark each half day worked in their timesheet.
  3. Control and visibility: This provides a clear, documented overview of worked days versus the contractual total, helping HR evaluate workload and compliance.

How it looks in Factorial

  • The timesheet appears as a calendar with checkboxes for each half day.
  • Employees can declare worked days, but Factorial does not treat this as a strict "timesheet" or clock-in method.
  • Clock-in widgets may still reflect hour values (e.g., 18:06 for half day, 36:12 for full day).
  • Extra days worked are not yet automatically added to a compensatory leave counter.

FAQs

  1. Can I change the number of forfait days after the contract is saved?
Yes, by editing the contract again and updating the number of working days per year.

  2. How does Factorial ensure legal compliance with forfait jours?
By offering daily tracking, employee declarations, and documented records of worked days, Factorial supports your legal obligations for workload monitoring.
