Table of Contents

With the work area data available in attendance analytics, you can now ask One which work areas employees have clocked into. You’ll learn how work area information is captured, where it’s available, and how to use it in One and AI Reports.

Overview

A work area is a sub-location within a workplace, such as 1st Floor or Zone 8C.

Previously, One could identify the workplace where someone clocked in but couldn’t provide the specific work area. Work area information is now included in attendance analytics, so you can ask One questions about clock-ins by workplace and work area.

This information is also available in AI Reports through the Employee presence and Shift location history datasets.

How to use

  1. Open One
  2. Ask your question in plain language. For example:
    • “Which work areas were clocked into today?”
    • “Who is clocked in at Edinburgh – Shop, Work area 1, right now?”
  3. One uses clock-in attendance data to identify the relevant workplace and work area
  4. Review the results broken down by workplace and work area
  5. You can also use the work area information in AI Reports:
    • The Employee Presence dataset includes workplace and work area information.
    • The Shift Location History dataset provides work area information across a date range

Work area information is only available for shifts recorded after the functionality was introduced. Older shifts will have a blank work area.

If One returns no work area information, make sure your question relates to clock-in or attendance data. For historical information, you can also use the Shift Location History dataset in AI Reports.

Tips and best practices

  • Use natural language when asking One about work areas. You don’t need to use specific field names.
  • Include a workplace, date, or time when you want to narrow down your question.
  • Keep in mind that work area attribution is forward-only. Shifts from before this functionality was introduced don’t have work area information.
  • A blank work area for an older shift means the information wasn’t recorded, not that the employee didn’t use a work area.
