Overview – Working Days (Contract Counter)
The Working Days – Contract counter deducts time off based on the employee’s contract working schedule. Only the days marked as working days in the contract are deducted. Weekends, company holidays, and contract non-working days are ignored unless the company is configured to count holidays as working days.
For each day in the leave period, the system checks the contract schedule and applies:
- 1.0 day for a full-day leave on a contract working day
- 0.5 days for a half-day leave on a contract working day
- 0 days for non-working days
Hours are calculated according to the contract’s daily working hours and adjusted by the leave type’s coefficient.

Q&A
How many days will be deducted? Which and why?
Days that will be deducted:
- Full working days: Days that are working days according to the employee's contract (1 full day deducted)
- Half working days: When a half-day leave is taken on a contract working day (half a day deducted)
Examples
-
If an employee has a Monday-Friday contract and takes leave from Monday to Wednesday, 3 days will be deducted
-
If an employee has a Wed-Sun contract and takes leave from Wednesday to Friday, 3 days will be deducted
- If an employee takes a half-day leave on a Monday (contract working day), half a day will be deducted
- Bank holidays that fall on contract working days (unless the company is configured to count holidays as working days)
The system respects the employee's contractual working schedule and accounts for partial day absences to ensure accurate time off calculations.
How many days will not be deducted? Which and why?
Days that will not be deducted:
-
Days that are not working days according to the employee's contract
Example: If employee works Wed-Sun, then Mon-Tue are not deducted
- Company holidays that fall on contract working days (unless the company is configured to count holidays as working days)
The system uses the employee's contract working schedule as the primary source of truth. Days not in the contract schedule won't be deducted from time off balance.
How many hours will be counted by day of absence?
- Full working day: Full scheduled hours for that day (e.g., 8 hours for a full day)
- Half working day: Half of the scheduled hours for that day (e.g., 4 hours for a half day)
- Non-working day: 0 hours (not in contract schedule)
- Company holiday: 0 hours (unless the company is configured to count holidays as working days)
The system takes the employee's contract scheduled time for that day and applies a multiplier based on the type of leave:
- Full day leave: 100% of the scheduled hours are counted
- Half day leave: 50% of the scheduled hours are counted
- Non-working day: 0% of the scheduled hours are counted
The scheduled time comes from the employee's contract work schedule for that specific day, including any unpaid breaks that are subtracted from the total duration.
How Bank Holidays Interact with Contract Working Days
The interaction between company holidays and contract working days is controlled by the company configuration for counting holidays as working days:
When the company is not configured to count holidays as working days (Default):
- Company holiday on contract working day: 0 days deducted, 0 hours counted
- Company holiday on non-contract day: 0 days deducted, 0 hours counted (already not working)
Example: Employee works Mon-Fri, company holiday on Wednesday → 0 days deducted
When the company is configured to count holidays as working days:
- Company holiday on contract working day: 1 day deducted, full hours counted
- Company holiday on non-contract day: 0 days deducted, 0 hours counted (still not working)
Example: Employee works Mon-Fri, company holiday on Wednesday → 1 day deducted
Key Points:
- Contract working day is still required: Even when holidays are configured to count as working days, the day must be a contract working day to be deducted
- Non-contract days are never deducted: Company holidays on weekends or non-working days are never deducted regardless of the configuration
- Half-day holidays: The same logic applies to half-day company holidays, with 0.5 days deducted when holidays are configured to count as working days
