Workforce history log

Need to understand what’s behind your workforce cost changes each month?

The Workforce History Log helps you understand what workforce changes are driving Headcount & cost fluctuations.

It gives you a clear, timeline-based view of 3 key contractual events:

  1. Hirings
  2. Promotions
  3. Terminations

Where to find it

  1. In your sidebar, go to Workspace
  2. Click on the History button, visible next to the Date selector
  • Clicking it opens a side panel with a monthly summary of changes for the selected period, grouped by the 3 key contractual events.
  • Use the dropdown arrows to view employee names and the effective dates of each change.
  • If you want to dive deeper, click on an employee’s name to access their full history of contractual changes.

How to use it

There are two ways to view details:

  1. Click the general “History” button
Shows you all contractual changes across the full selected time range.

  2. Click a specific month in the table header
Shows you only the changes from that specific month.

How is Headcount calculated?

Headcount might not always feel intuitive, so here’s how we calculate it:

Headcount this month = Headcount previous monthLeavers (previous month) + Joiners (this month)

However, there are some cases where the numbers may not match perfectly.

For example:

  • If an employee ends one contract and starts a new one and the same month, and there’s a gap of more than one day between the two contracts (with no overlap), the system counts:
    • 1 leaver (for the old contract)
    • 1 joiner (for the new contract)

This means the same person is counted twice, which can slightly distort the headcount for that month.
