Workplace areas are subdivisions within a workplace (for example, floors, zones, or departments). With this feature, you can assign a specific workplace area to each employee, making their work location more precise.

This information is available across the platform and can also be managed in bulk or accessed via the API.

When and why it should be used

Use this feature when you need more detailed visibility of where employees are located within a workplace. It is especially useful for:

  • Companies with large offices, factories, or multiple zones
  • Teams managing shifts or physical spaces
  • Improving internal organisation and reporting
  • Filtering employees by specific locations
 

 

How to use

Assign a workplace area to an employee

  1. Go to Organisation
  2. Open the profile of the employee you want to update
  3. Access the Work details tab
  4. Select the employee’s Main workplace
  5. Choose the corresponding Workplace area
  6. Save your changes

 

Assign workplace areas in bulk

  1. Go to Organisation
  2. Select the employees you want to update bu checking the boxes on their right
  3. Click on Edit employees
  4. Assign the appropriate workplace area
  5. Apply the changes

If you cannot select a workplace area, make sure a Main workplace is selected first and check that workplace areas have been created for that workplace. If the issue persists, contact your account administrator.

If the workplace area field is not visible, ensure you have the correct permissions to edit employee details and confirm that your company has workplace areas configured.

  • Define your workplace areas clearly (e.g. “Floor 1”, “Warehouse A”, “HR Zone”) to ensure consistency
  • Use naming conventions that are easy for everyone to understand
  • Regularly review workplace assignments to keep data up to date

    No, currently each employee can only have one workplace area assigned.

    Yes, you can assign or update workplace areas using the bulk editor.

    Yes, workplace area data is available via the API.
     
  4. What happens if I change an employee’s main workplace?
    You will need to reassign the corresponding workplace area based on the new workplace.
