Do it with One: "Summarise the feedback Marc Puig received this year before I write his review."
While answering a performance review, and as a manager during a 1:1, the View context panel has a Past feedbacks tab that lists the feedback the employee received. This lets reviewers remember concrete examples from the whole period instead of only the last few weeks. Feedback isn't copied into the review automatically: it's reference material for whoever is writing.
Before you start
- The Past feedbacks tab respects visibility. Each reviewer only sees the feedback they're allowed to read in Performance > Feedbacks.
- In a 1:1, only the employee's manager sees the View context button.
Steps
Check past feedback while answering a review (reviewer)
- Go to Performance > Reviews and open the review you need to answer.
- In the review form, click View context.
- A side panel opens with the tabs Past reviews, Past courses, Goals and Past feedbacks.
- Click Past feedbacks.
- Each card shows the author, the feedback text, the date (month and year) and the visibility.
Check past feedback during a 1:1 (manager)
- Open the 1:1 meeting with your report.
- Click View context.
- Click the Past feedbacks tab.
Rules and behavior
- If you're the employee's manager, then Past feedbacks shows the feedback they received with visibility Employee and manager or Manager only, plus any feedback you wrote to them.
- If you're answering a self-review, then Past feedbacks shows the feedback you received that you can see: Employee only and Employee and manager feedback. Manager only feedback isn't shown to you.
- If you're a peer reviewer, then Past feedbacks only shows feedback you're allowed to read, usually only feedback you wrote to that employee.
- If you have Review Process Full Visibility, then Past feedbacks shows all Employee and manager and Manager only feedback the employee received.
- If no feedback is visible to you, then the tab shows No feedback and "This user has not received any feedback".
- Past feedbacks isn't limited to the review period. It lists feedback from any date, newest first.
- In 1:1s, if your company doesn't have Performance, then View context shows an upgrade option instead of the panel.
Limitations
- Feedback isn't added to review answers or scores automatically.
- You can't filter Past feedbacks by date or visibility. Use Performance > Feedbacks for filters.
- You can't give new feedback from the View context panel.
- Admins can't add a feedback question to a review template that pulls feedback in. Reviewers read it from Past feedbacks.
- In 1:1s, the employee (non-manager attendee) doesn't see the View context button.
Troubleshooting
- Symptom: "Past feedbacks says No feedback but I know the employee got feedback." → Cause: that feedback is Employee only, or you aren't the employee's manager. → Fix: none. Visibility rules also apply here.
- Symptom: "I don't see View context in the review." → Cause: the review isn't part of a performance review process, or it has no target employee. → Fix: open the review from Performance > Reviews.
- Symptom: "I don't see View context in my 1:1." → Cause: you aren't the other person's manager. → Fix: only managers see it.
