Automatic email confirmation for verified domains

Discover how verified domains can simplify your processes by eliminating the need for additional confirmation steps.

When your company verifies its email domains, employees invited with an email address from a verified domain—or employees who change their email to one within a verified domain—no longer need to confirm their email address before accessing Factorial.

This article explains how this behaviour works, when it applies, and what employees can expect during the invitation and email change process.

Overview

By default, employees usually need to confirm their email address by clicking a link sent to their inbox after receiving an invitation or changing their email address.

If your company has verified its email domains, this confirmation step is skipped for email addresses that belong to those verified domains. Instead of requesting confirmation, Factorial automatically validates the email address and sends an informational email. This functionality helps reduce onboarding friction and simplifies email changes, especially for organisations where some employees do not have access to an email inbox.

This functionality is useful when your company:

  • Has verified one or more company email domains.
  • Wants to streamline employee onboarding.
  • Wants to reduce delays caused by email confirmation.
  • Uses SAML authentication to allow employees without an email inbox to access Factorial.

To support employees who do not have an email inbox, your company must have verified its domains and use SAML authentication.

About verifying your company's domains

How to use

Inviting a new employee

  1. Verify your company's email domain
  2. Invite an employee using an email address that belongs to a verified domain
  3. Factorial automatically confirms the employee's email address
  4. The employee receives an informational email instead of a confirmation request

Changing an employee's email address

  1. Update the employee's email address to one that belongs to a verified domain
  2. Save the changes
  3. Factorial automatically confirms the new email address
  4. The employee receives an informational email without needing to take any action

If the employee is still asked to confirm their email address, check that:

  • The email address belongs to one of your company's verified domains
  • The company domain has been verified already

Tips and best practices

  • Verify all company email domains before inviting employees to ensure a smoother onboarding experience.
  • If your organisation has employees without access to an email inbox, combine verified domains with SAML authentication for the best experience.
  • Ensure employees are informed that they may receive an informational email instead of a confirmation request.
