Track a shipment

Learn how to effectively track your shipment in real-time, ensuring you stay informed about its journey and delivery status.

Once a return shipment exists, you can follow it from the console until it reaches its destination. Use this to check whether an employee has sent their equipment back.

Feature/Functionality

Overview

Every shipment shows its current status and a link to the carrier's own tracking page. The status tells you where the parcel is; the carrier link gives you the detail.

How to use

  1. Go to Global purchasing > Shipments.
  2. Click a shipment to see its details and current status.

Shipment statuses

Status Meaning
Label created The label exists and has been emailed. The carrier does not have the parcel yet.
In transit The carrier has collected the parcel and it is moving.
Out for delivery A local carrier has the parcel for the last leg.
Delivered The carrier confirms the parcel has arrived.
Exception Something is blocking delivery: an address issue, a missed delivery attempt or a customs hold.
Return to sender The parcel could not be delivered and is going back to where it came from.

Track with the carrier

  1. In Global purchasing > Shipments, open the shipment.
  2. Click the carrier tracking link. The carrier's website opens with the parcel.

The carrier may take a few hours to show updates after the parcel is handed over.

When a shipment is not moving

If a shipment has stayed in Label created for over 48 hours:

  1. Check with the employee that they gave the parcel to the carrier.
  2. Check that they received the shipping label. If not, send it again from Global purchasing > Shipments > Label.
  3. If it is still stuck, contact support@factorial.it.

Tips and Best Practices

  • Check Label created shipments every couple of days. Over 48 hours in that status usually means the employee has not posted the parcel.
  • Act on Exception early. An address issue or customs hold gets worse the longer it waits.
  • Give the carrier a few hours. A fresh handover does not always appear in tracking straight away.
  • Keep the label to hand. Resending it from Global purchasing > Shipments > Label is the quickest fix for a stalled return.

Troubleshooting and FAQ

Troubleshooting

  • The shipment has been in Label created for over 48 hours. Confirm the employee handed over the parcel and has the label. Resend the label if needed. If that does not help, contact support@factorial.it.
  • The carrier link shows no movement. Updates can lag a few hours after handover. Check again later.
  • The status is Exception. Delivery is blocked, for example by a wrong address, a missed attempt or customs. Open the carrier link for the reason.
  • The status is Return to sender. The carrier could not deliver. The parcel is on its way back to the sender.
