Work Type is now available globally in Contracts, allowing all clients to define whether a contract is Full-Time or Part-Time using a standardised field. When combined with the Job Catalog, this feature helps streamline time-related calculations, improve data consistency, and reduce manual errors.
Overview
The Work Type field provides a single source of truth for identifying whether a contract is Full-Time or Part-Time across all markets.
When used together with the Job Catalog, the system can automatically populate and validate time-related contract information by:
- Pre-filling contract data based on the selected job role
- Automatically calculating working time values where applicable
- Highlighting inconsistencies between contract values and the job's configured working conditions
This feature helps reduce manual data entry, improve data quality, and ensure greater consistency across contracts.
When to use
Use this feature when creating or updating employee contracts to:
- Standardise Full-Time and Part-Time contract information
- Reduce manual calculations for working time
- Populate contract data directly from the Job catalog
- Validate entered values against your organisation's configured working conditions
How to use
Configure working conditions in the Job Catalog
- In your sidebar, go to Organisation
- Access the Roles tab
- Open the job role you want to configure
- Go to the Working conditions tab
- Click on the three dots icon and select Edit conditions
- Define an amount of reference hours for a full-time role and a frequency
- Save your changes

Create or update a contract
- In your sidebar, go to Contracts
- Create a new contract or edit an existing one
- Select the relevant job role
- Choose the Work type
- Full-time
- Part-time
- Modify the corresponding fields
- A notification prompts you to define the working conditions in the Job catalog before using automated calculations

If you do not see automatic calculations, verify that the selected job role has working conditions configured in the Job Catalog.
If you receive a validation warning when entering working hours, it is because the entered values differ from the configured working conditions. You can still save the contract, but you should review the values to ensure they are correct.
If the system asks me to configure working conditions, it is because the selected job role does not yet have working conditions defined in the Job Catalog. Configure them to enable automatic population and validation.
Depending on your configuration
If no working conditions are configured
A notification prompts you to define the working conditions in the Job Catalog before using automated calculations.
If working conditions are configured
- For Full-time contracts
- Select Full-time
- Apply the working time values from the Job catalog
- Review and save the contract
- For Part-time contracts
- Select Part-time
- Enter the working time percentage, if needed
- The system automatically calculates the corresponding values based on the Job catalog configuration
- Adjust the working time percentage if necessary before saving
Validation
The system validates the entered values against the configured working conditions.
For example:
- The Job Catalog defines 39 weekly hours as Full-Time
- A contract is entered as 50% Part-Time with 20 weekly hours
The contract can still be saved, but the system highlights that the entered values do not exactly match the expected calculation, allowing you to review the information before finalising the contract.
Tips and best practices
- Configure working conditions for every job role before creating contracts to benefit from automatic calculations
- Keep the Job Catalog up to date, as contracts rely on its configured working conditions
- Review validation messages before saving to help maintain accurate contract data
- Use the standardised Work Type field consistently across your organization to improve reporting and integrations
FAQ
-
Is the Work type field available for all clients?
Yes. The Work Type field is available globally across all markets.
-

Yes. For Part-Time contracts, you can adjust the working time percentage when needed. The system recalculates the values and highlights any inconsistencies with the Job Catalog configuration.
-
What happens if the values don't match the Job Catalog?
The contract can still be saved. The system displays a warning so you can review the discrepancy before finalising the contract.
-
Do I need to configure the Job Catalog to use Work type?
No. The Work type field is available independently. However, configuring working conditions in the Job Catalog enables automatic population, calculations, and validation.
