While you answer a performance review, the Goals tab of the View context panel lists the reviewed person's goals with their status, progress and due date, so you can base your evaluation on measurable results without leaving the review. The same panel is available when you prepare a 1:1 meeting. This article covers what the Goals tab shows. The rest of the panel is explained in the performance reviews articles.
Before you start
- Your company plan must include Goals. Without it, the Goals tab has nothing to show.
- You see only the goals your See key results scope lets you see. For example, a manager whose scope covers direct reports sees their reports' goals. A peer reviewer whose scope only covers themselves may see no goals for the reviewed person.
Step by step
- Go to Performance > Reviews and open the review.
- Open the evaluation you need to fill in.
- Click View context in the top right corner. The View context panel opens on the right.
- Click the Goals tab.
- Read each goal card: the goal name, its status (Not started, On track, Achieved or Missed), its progress percentage and its due date.
- Optional: type in the search box to find a goal by name.
- Scroll down or click Load more to see more goals.
Rules and behavior
- If the reviewed person is assigned to a goal, alone or as part of a team, legal entity, job role or the whole company, then that goal can appear in the Goals tab.
- If a goal is a sub-goal of another goal, then only its top-level goal appears. Sub-goals are not listed separately.
- If you can't see a goal in Performance > Goals, then you can't see it in the Goals tab either.
- Goals are sorted by due date, earliest first.
- Status and progress are live: they show the goal's current values, not the values on the day the review was launched.
- If the person has no goals you can see, then the tab shows "No goals" and "There are no goals assigned to this employee."
Limitations
- You can't filter the Goals tab by review cycle or period. Use the search box, or open Performance > Goals for full filters.
- You can't expand a goal to see its sub-goals or periods in the Goals tab.
- You can't update a goal's progress from the Goals tab.
- The Goals tab is for reference while you answer the review.
Troubleshooting
- Symptom: "The Goals tab says 'No goals' but the employee has goals." → Cause: Your See key results scope doesn't cover the employee or any person assigned to those goals. → Fix: Ask an admin to review your scope in Settings > Permissions > Goals.
- Symptom: "I can't find the cycle filter that used to be in the Goals tab." → Cause: Cycles belonged to the previous goals experience. Goals now have their own period. → Fix: Search by name, or check the goal's period in Performance > Goals.
- Symptom: "I see the parent goal but not the employee's sub-goal." → Cause: The tab lists top-level goals only. → Fix: Open the goal from Performance > Goals to see its sub-goals.
