Assignees and priorities in Compensation employee updates

Learn effective strategies to streamline employee updates by incorporating assignees and prioritizing tasks for better team management.

Table of Contents

Employee updates help payroll teams keep track of changes that may affect payroll, such as salary changes, sick leave, address updates, or terminations. You can now assign an owner and priority to each update, making it easier to know who needs to act and which updates should be handled first.

Overview

Each employee update can have:

  • An assignee: The person responsible for reviewing or handling the update
  • A priority: Indicates how urgently the update should be handled
  • A default assignee and priority: These can be configured in Employee updates settings
  • Bulk editing: You can update the assignee or priority for multiple updates at once

This helps payroll teams organise their work and focus on the most important updates before payroll closes.

How to use

  1. In your sidebar, go to Settings
  2. Go to Employee updates
  3. Select the employee update you want to manage
  4. In the employee update panel, select the Assignee.
  5. Select the appropriate Priority
  6. Review the update and take the required action

If an employee update has no assignee, check the Employee updates settings to make sure a default assignee has been configured. If no default is configured, assign an owner directly from the employee update side panel.

If the priority is not what I expected, check whether a default priority has been configured in Employee updates settings. You can also change the priority directly from the update.

Tips and best practices

  • Assign each update to the person responsible for taking action on it
  • Use priorities consistently so your team has a shared understanding of which updates need attention first
  • Configure default values to reduce manual work for recurring updates
  • Use bulk editing when several updates need to be reassigned or reprioritised
