Do it with One: "How did our latest performance review go?"
Factorial uses AI (artificial intelligence) in several places of the Performance module: to summarise review results, to help reviewers write, to suggest competencies and to analyse performance data. Some features are part of Performance itself, and others need One, Factorial's AI agent. AI never decides scores, never submits evaluations and never changes data without a person confirming.
Before you start
- Features marked "needs One" require the company to have One and the person to have the Use One permission (Settings > Permissions > One).

Rules and behavior
- If a feature generates text automatically (AI Insights, Team insights), then nobody can edit it, and it's regenerated when the underlying answers change.
- If a feature rewrites your text (Enhance), then nothing changes until you select Accept.
- If One is about to give feedback, delete feedback or remove people from a plan, then it asks for your approval first.
- If you don't have Use One, then you still see AI Insights, Team insights and Suggested competencies, but not Enhance, One chat or One Analytics.
Limitations
- There's no AI summary of feedback and no AI writing help in Give feedback.
- AI doesn't calibrate, rate or score employees.
- There's no AI for the 9-box grid or potential.
Troubleshooting
- Symptom: "I don't see any AI in my review." → Cause: AI Insights only appear for admins and managers once evaluations are published; Enhance needs Use One. → Fix: Check your role in the review and your One access.
FAQ
1. Does AI decide performance scores?
No. Scores come from the reviewers. AI Insights add a Low/Normal/High guide level next to the summary.
2. Can I turn off AI Insights?
There's no setting to turn them off.
3. Which plans include AI Insights?
Business and Enterprise, as part of performance reviews.
