Connectors in One: use your other work tools from the One chat

Learn how admins install connectors and how employees connect their own accounts to use tools like Slack, Notion, HubSpot or Jira from the One chat.

Connectors let One work with the other tools your company already uses, such as Notion, Slack, HubSpot or Atlassian (Jira and Confluence). Once a connector is set up, you can ask One questions or request actions that involve those tools directly from the One chat, without switching tabs or copying information between them.

Overview

Until now, One could only work with the information inside Factorial. With connectors, One can also read from and act on other tools, and combine that information with your Factorial data in a single answer.

More than 100 connectors are available, including Notion, Slack, HubSpot, Atlassian (Jira and Confluence), Abacum, Canva and Miro. You can see the full list in Discover Factorial > Connectors.

Setting up a connector has two parts:

  • Admins install the connector for the whole company from the connectors catalog.
  • Each employee connects their own account from the One chat the first time they want to use it.

When and why to use it

Use connectors when you need information or actions that involve another tool, for example:

  • Sales and HubSpot: "Which new sales reps have closed their first HubSpot deal?"
  • Projects and Jira: "Which Jira tickets are assigned to people on leave next week?"
  • Communication and Slack: "Post on Slack's #team-sales who's off this Friday."
  • Expenses and Slack: "Get the receipts from the Slack channel #workshop and create the matching expenses for each employee who posted them."
  • Knowledge and Notion: "Compare our handbook in Notion with the policies in Factorial and list what's out of sync."

Connectors that need an account use each person's own sign-in. One only sees and does what you can already see and do in that tool, and every action is linked to the person who requested it.

How to use

Install a connector for the company (admins)

  1. Go to Discover Factorial
  2. Open the Connectors tab
  3. Search for the tool or browse the catalog by category
  4. Open the connector to see what One can do with it and how it is set up
  5. Click Install

The connector is then available for everyone in the company. Each employee still needs to connect their own account before One can use it for them.

Connect your account in One (everyone)

  1. Open One
  2. In the chat box, click the + button
  3. Select Connectors
  4. Turn on the toggle next to the tool you want to use
  5. In the window that opens, sign in to the tool and allow access
  6. When you see Connection successful, close the window and go back to One

You can now ask One something that needs that tool. One only calls a connector when your question needs it.

If the connector you need isn't installed yet, you can find it in the catalog in Discover Factorial > Connectors and request it. Your admin is notified so they can install it.

Before completing some actions, One asks you to confirm. For example, when creating expenses from receipts shared in Slack, One asks whether to send them for review or keep them as drafts.

Tips and best practices

  • Mention the tool by name in your request (for example, "in Slack" or "in HubSpot") so One knows where to look.
  • Combine tools with your Factorial data in one question, such as time off, expenses or employee information.
  • If One says a tool isn't connected, check that the toggle for that connector is turned on in your own One chat.
  • Your access in each tool is always governed by your own account and its permissions.

FAQ

  1. Who can use connectors?
Connectors are available to every company with One enabled. An admin installs each connector for the company, and then each employee connects their own account from the One chat.

  2. A connector is installed for my company, but One says it isn't connected. Why?
Installing a connector for the company isn't enough on its own. You also need to connect your own account: in the One chat, click + > Connectors, turn on the connector and sign in.

  3. Can One see information in other tools that I can't see?
No. For connectors that need an account, One uses your own sign-in, so it only sees and does what you can already see and do in that tool.

  4. Can I ask for a connector my company hasn't installed?
Yes. Any employee can browse the catalog in Discover Factorial > Connectors and request a connector. Your admin is notified so they can install it.

  5. Can I use connectors in routines?
Not yet. Routines can't use connectors for now. If you need information from a connected tool, ask One directly in the chat.

  6. How is this different from Factorial MCP?
Connectors bring your other tools into One, inside Factorial. Factorial MCP works the other way round: it lets you use One from an external AI assistant, such as ChatGPT or Claude.
