Ask One about the Overview of a headcount plan

Ask One to explain any KPI, chart or month on the Overview of a headcount plan, with the plan's context already included.

The Overview of a headcount plan shows its KPIs, the headcount and cost evolution charts, and your direct reports. With Ask One, you can ask One to explain any of these figures, for example why the cost forecast moved or what drove a month's headcount, without digging through the Employee sheet or explaining which plan you're looking at.

Overview

  • Ask from where you're looking: every KPI card, the Headcount evolution and Cost evolution charts and the Direct reports table have an Ask One button. You can also click a month on a chart to ask about that month.
  • One already knows the context: the plan, the version, the filters and the months on screen are sent along with your question, so you don't need to explain where you are.
  • Your question, your words: nothing is sent for you. What you pointed at appears as a quote in One's message box, and you write the question you want to ask.
  • Same numbers, same visibility: One reads the figures from the plan with your permissions. Its answer matches the page, and One can't see anything you can't see in the plan.
  • Plan vs. reality: once a plan is Ongoing, One can explain how reality compares with what the plan committed to.

This feature is available for every company with Headcount Planning and One. There is nothing to enable.

How to use

Ask about a KPI, a chart or your direct reports

  1. In your sidebar, go to Financial planning and open Headcount planning.
  2. Open a headcount plan and go to the Overview tab.
  3. Hover over a KPI card (for example Costs forecast), a chart or the Direct reports table, and click Ask One.
  4. One opens in the side panel with that component quoted above the message box.
  5. Type your question, for example: “Why is the costs forecast 6.7% above what we planned?”, and send it.

Ask about a specific month

  1. On the Headcount evolution or Cost evolution chart, click the month you want to ask about.
  2. One opens with that chart and month quoted (for example, Cost evolution · Jul).
  3. Type your question, for example: “What makes the cost jump this month?”, and send it.
  • If you change the filters or the version before sending, One answers about what's on screen at that moment.
  • Clicking a month works with a mouse or trackpad. On touch screens, use the chart's Ask One button instead.

Tips and best practices

  • Set the filters and the date range you want before you click Ask One, so the question covers exactly what you need.
  • Ask follow-up questions in the same conversation to go deeper into an answer.
  • Use the Employee sheet to check or edit the specific positions One mentions.

FAQ

  1. Do I need to tell One which plan I'm looking at?
No. The plan, version, filters and months on screen are included automatically.

  2. Does Ask One send a question for me?
No. It only adds what you pointed at as a quote. You write and send the question.

  3. Can One see salaries or data I don't have access to?
No. One uses your permissions, so it only sees what you can see in the plan.

  4. Why can't I click a month on the chart?
Clicking a month only works with a mouse or trackpad. On touch screens, use the chart's Ask One button.
