Analytics helps you turn your HR data into meaningful insights through reports and visualisations. This article explains what Analytics is today, what's changing with the new Analytics experience, and what these changes mean for your existing and future reports.
Overview
Analytics is the reporting area in Factorial where you can explore and analyse data such as absences, headcount, turnover, time tracking, compensation, and expenses. Instead of exporting data to external tools, you can create reports, identify trends, and share insights directly within Factorial.
An Analytics report is a collection of widgets or metrics related to the same topic, providing a centralised view of your data to help you make informed decisions.
When and why it should be used
Use Analytics when you want to:
- Monitor HR metrics in one place
- Identify trends and patterns over time
- Share reports with relevant stakeholders
- Make data-driven decisions without exporting information
How to use
Create a new report
In the new Analytics experience, you can create reports in three ways:
Ask One
- In your sidebar, go to Analytics
- Open One
- Describe the report you need using natural language
- One generates a report that you can continue refining through conversation

Start from a template
- In your sidebar, go to Analytics
- In the Advanced reports tab, click on +Create a report
- Choose from pre-built report templates for topics such as:
- Absences
- Workforce
- Missing clock-ins
- Expenses
Create a report manually
- In your sidebar, go to Analytics
- In the Advanced reports tab, click on +Create a report
- Build a report from scratch
- Select the data you want to display
- Add, remove, or modify columns as needed
After a report has been migrated, it is no longer editable in the legacy experience. Open the migrated version to continue working with it.
If different users see different information in the same report, this behaviour is expected in Legacy Analytics because reports respect platform permissions and the company hierarchy.
Understand the current Analytics experience
Today, Analytics allows you to create and edit reports using:
- The widget builder
- The SQL editor
- The widget library
These tools are part of Legacy Analytics.
Understand data visibility
Data visibility depends on the Analytics experience you're using.
Legacy Analytics
- Reports respect your platform permissions and company hierarchy.
- Different users may see different values in the same report depending on their access.
- For example, an administrator and a manager may see different salary averages.
New Analytics experience
- All admins see the same data
- Permission- and hierarchy-based filtering is not yet supported
Tips and best practices
- Continue using your existing reports until they are migrated
- Use templates when you need common HR reports quickly
- Use Factorial One to create reports faster and iterate on them through conversation
- Remember that data visibility differs between Legacy Analytics and the new experience during the beta period
