How to add projects in registered shifts?

Learn how to select the available projects in your clock-in section

This feature allows people to easily track their work hours for the projects they are assigned to. By selecting the projects they are working on in the My time tracking section, employees can track the time they spend on each specific task. This helps them stay organised and focused, while also providing the organisation with an overview of the hours dedicated to each project.

To enable your employees to select projects in their Time tracking section, ensure that you have created projects and assigned employees to them.

Add projects to registered shifts from desktop

  1. On your sidebar, go to My time tracking
  2. Choose a shift already added, go to the side of the shift and click on the (...)
  3. Select the Add/Edit Projects option
  4. Select a Project
  5. Select a phase
  6. Click on Add projects

The dropdown menu will display only active projects that have been assigned to the user.

 

 

Clocking in with projects

When you start tracking time on a project task using the clock-in widget, the task is automatically updated from To do to In progress. This keeps project boards aligned with the work your team is actively performing, without requiring manual status updates.

How it works

The task status is updated automatically when all of the following conditions are met:

  • You start a live clock-in from the clock-in widget
  • A project task is selected when you clock in
  • The task is currently in the To do status

The following actions do not trigger an automatic status update:

  • Starting or ending a break
  • Editing time entries in the timesheet
  • Clock-ins that are not live

Tasks already marked as In progress, Done, or Discarded are not modified.

This functionality is available for all customers using Projects. No additional configuration or feature activation is required.

Your clock-in is always recorded successfully, even if the task status cannot be updated.

 

In order to clock in with projects or to assign a project to a clock in, employees must have the Add, edit, or delete projects in Clock-in permission enabled in their permissions settings.

  1. Go to the Clock in section from the tab bar located at the bottom of the screen
  2. Choose the desired shift and click on the arrow located to the right
  3. Select and open a time slot

As with the desktop version, the dropdown menu will display only active projects that have been assigned to the user.

Clock in directly with a project

You can clock in directly while linking your time entry to a specific project. This allows you to associate your worked hours with the correct project right from the start, without needing to edit the entry later.

  1. Go to the Clock in/out widget on your main dashboard
  2. In the project selection field, choose the project you’re working on
  3. Click Clock in

 

Once your employees start tracking their work hours for specific projects, you will be able to see the amount of time dedicated to each project, gathering useful insights. Additionally, you can export reports to better understand the data.
