Welcome to Factorial IT - this guide will walk you through the essential steps to configure, test, and deploy your Factorial IT cockpit in just four weeks. You’ll learn how to secure your devices with MDM and EDR, while automating access and license management through SaaS integrations.

Onboarding Objectives

Over four weeks, you will:

1. Configure your Factorial IT cockpit
2. Secure your devices with MDM and EDR
3. Automate your SaaS access and license management

Average duration: 4 weeks (1 week setup, 1 week testing, 2 weeks deployment)

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

• Administrator access to Factorial IT.
• Administrator access to your HRIS or HR data source.
• Access to an Apple account to generate the APN certificate.
• Appropriate permissions and subscription plans to provision your tools through IAM (if applicable).

Onboarding Timeline

Cockpit Setup

Import your employees

Connecting your HRIS allows you to automatically import your employee list and avoid manual entry.

It also enables automated onboarding/offboarding in Factorial IT and provides key data for MDM or identity configuration.

1. Go to Settings → Employee synchronization
2. Select your provider (Personio, Lucca, BambooHR, etc.)
3. Enter the required connection details
4. Filter and choose which data to import
5. Start synchronization

Your employees will then be automatically imported into Factorial IT.

Choosing your hardware catalog

Select or create your hardware catalog to prepare your equipment setup and assignment during onboarding.

MDM (Mobile Device Management)

The MDM allows you to:

• Manage and configure your computers remotely (Mac, Windows, Linux, iOS, Android)
• Define and apply security policies (encryption, passwords, updates)
• Lock, wipe, or reassign a device in one click

Activation

The MDM is at the core of Factorial IT’s device management.

It lets you configure and secure your devices remotely.

1. Go to Settings → MDM
2. Activate your FleetDM instance
3. Upload your Apple Push Notification (APN) certificate

Your MDM is now operational.

Configuration

A new MDM section has appeared in your sidebar.

Installation tests

Deploy the setup on one or more devices to validate the configuration and get familiar with the process by sending invitations via Employees → MDM invitations.

You don’t need to create devices manually — they’ll be created and assigned automatically once the MDM agent is installed.

Deployment to collaborators

Once your test is validated, you can roll out the MDM at scale. This step lets you quickly secure your fleet and automate configuration for all users.

1. Prepare your internal communication (email, Slack, etc.)
2. From Employees → MDM invitations, invite all your collaborators

Automatic reminders are sent every 7 days to employees who haven’t completed installation.

You can track the deployment directly from your dashboard.

EDR (Endpoint Detection & Response)

The EDR complements your MDM setup by:

• Automatically deploying SentinelOne or ThreatDown on all devices
• Proactively detecting ransomware and malware
• Automatically isolating infected machines
• Providing a centralized view of threats directly from your EDR cockpit

SaaS Management

With Factorial IT’s SaaS Management, you can automatically create and revoke the right access for each employee based on their role in the company — saving time and ensuring security.

Connecting your SaaS apps

To manage your access, make sure you:

• Have the right admin privileges for each tool
• Have the correct subscription plans (some apps require an SSO-level plan for connection)

Once confirmed, you can connect your apps:

1. Go to Identity & Access → App Catalog
2. Connect your applications either:
   1. via Factorial IT’s pre-built integrations, or
   2. through custom connectors (AI Agent or SAML SSO)

Setting up your rules

Use templates to automate provisioning by defining license types, roles, groups, or organizational units.

Troubleshooting

Examples of automation to set up:

• Define your weekly reports via AI Agents → Create and set the information and frequency.
• Schedule reminders for users who are not enrolled or whose devices are not syncing properly.
• Automate your onboarding/offboarding processes: manage hardware orders, account creation, and more — all within Factorial IT.
