Overview
The Employee-based benefit transaction summary export allows you to generate transaction summaries with one row per employee, instead of one per benefit category.
This new format is designed to integrate smoothly with external payroll systems and simplify data management for HR and Finance teams.
When and why to use it
Use this feature when preparing your monthly or periodic payroll exports.
It helps you:
- Streamline payroll preparation.
- Reduce manual edits when importing data into payroll software.
- Ensure each employee’s benefits are consolidated and easy to review.
How to use
- On your sidebar, go to the Benefits section in Factorial
- Click on summary tab
- Go to the red Export button
- In the sidebar, you’ll now see one column for each benefit instead of a single Category column
(Optional) Reorder or rename the benefit columns to match your payroll software’s structure - Click Export to download the file
- Your export will now display one row per employee, making it ready for direct import into your payroll system

- Match column names: Rename benefit columns to align with your payroll software’s required format for a smoother import.
- Test before automation: If you use automated payroll imports, test the new format once to confirm compatibility.
