Compensation in Financial Workspace

Discover strategies for designing a competitive compensation package for financial professionals to attract and retain top talent in your organization.

The new Compensation tab in the Financial Workspace centralizes HR-focused financial insights, making it easier for HR and Finance teams to collaborate. In this article, you will learn what this tab offers, how to use it, and how it differs from the previous Payroll tab.

Overview

The Compensation tab brings together key financial data in one place. It allows HR and Finance teams to:

  • Access up-to-date compensation information.
  • Filter and group data by familiar dimensions.
  • Ensure only validated, finalized data is visible.

This feature replaces the former Payroll tab for Compensation clients, while legacy Payroll clients continue to access their data as before.

When and why it should be used

  • Use the Compensation tab to:
  • Monitor and manage employee compensation efficiently.
  • Collaborate with Finance teams using accurate, finalized data.
  • Customize which payroll concepts appear in the financial workspace according to your organizational needs.

How to use

  1. On your sidebar, go to Finance → Workspace
  2. Select the Compensation tab
  3. Use Filters and Group by options to view data by desired dimensions.
  4. Access the Settings > Compensation > Payroll concepts to control what appears in financial workspace.

Note that new data becomes visible only after the period is closed.

For legacy Payroll clients: continue using the Payroll tab—no immediate changes.

Tips and Best Practices

  1. Regularly close periods in Compensation to ensure data is up-to-date in financial workspace.
  2. Customize payroll concept categories to match your reporting needs.
  3. Take advantage of the flexibility in filtering and grouping to generate tailored insights for HR and Finance collaboration.

Compensation clients can only view the current and next two periods, as past data cannot be backfilled, and uploaded payroll summaries appear in the Financial Workspace only after the period is closed, ensuring that only validated data is shown.
